Dec Shoes and DJ Ben Osborne return to Big Chill Bar for an intimate live vocal and vinyl session. Featuring original material and live mash-ups of techno, deep house and bassline, in their short existence Dec Shoes have played headline slots at key European festivals, such as Denmark’s Spot and Latitude, where they appeared in the Noise of Art headline slot alongside Si Begg, Xpress 2 and Autokratz. Tonight they return to their spiritual home of low ceilinged London clubs.
Noise of Art Opens Sonicbids

Noise of Art has announced its first call-out through the Sonicbids platform for an act to play forthcoming London events.
Noise of Art events will take be taking place this September and October in venues across London. Acts are invited to apply from a broad range of genres and anyone interested in applying should visit Sonicbids.com for further information.
Sonicbids is the leading matchmaking site for emerging bands and music promoters. It boasts a network of over 25,000 promoters and 300,000 bands/artists. In 2010, bands and artists using Sonicbids booked close to 80,000 gigs through the site. It includes artists of all shapes and sizes and is especially aimed at helping independent artists.

Noise of Art will continue its evolving steam punk sci-fi journey, UFO, at Latitude with ‘Attack The Block – Party’, a new chapter loosley inspired by Joe Cornish’s recently released film and Suffolk’s UFO Rendlesham incident.
Connecting the Seventies, an era of classic sci-fi imagery and New York’s seminal disco Block Parties – with today’s club scene, ‘Attack The Block – Party’ features a disco-tech sound track from some of the most revered pioneers in electronic music, alongside some of the newest arrivals.
Visual contributions come from hot club and up-and-coming street and gallery artists, while a troupe of contemporary dancers and performances artists complete the sensory immersion.
X-Press 2 are best known for their 2002 hit UK single, ‘Lazy’. Comprising of DJs Rocky and Diesel (aka Problem Kids/ Ballistic Brothers). Their first single, “Say What,” peaked at number 32 in the U.K. chart in October 1993. Further club hits were followed in 2002 with the top 10 deep house hit single “Lazy”, featuring Talking Heads’ David Byrne. Their third album, featuring a number of yet to be announced cool collaborations, is due to be released on Skint later this summer.
Si Begg is a highly original producer and inspiration to both the dub step/ London bass and new disco scenes. He’s also recorded music for films, television and advertisements and sound design for television channels, including the BBC, Channel 4 and MTV.
Autokratz were first spotted by French label Kitsuné. Based in London, AutoKratz made their LP debut in 2009 with Animal. They regularly feature on the annual series of Kitsuné Maison compilations, starting with the inclusion of “Pardon Garçon” on the fifth volume in 2007. AutoKratz have also remixed tracks by artists such as Underworld, Fischerspooner and La Roux.
Lighthouses have been variously described as “Bloc Party meets Justice”, “Daft Punk crossed with Soulwax” “Death from Above versus Delphic”… The real lighthouse at Orford Ness, near the Latitude site, has frequently been used to explain away the strange radiation and flashing lights during the UFO sighting at Rendlesham in 1980. This has nothing to do with the Lighthouses playing our UFO event. But according to loads of predictions, they’re expected to fly.
Dec Shoes formed when the core duo collaborated to write and perform a soundtrack for Noise of Art’s show at Latitude last year. A couple of months after they were asked to play a gig at London’s Southbank Centre, followed by a serries of small club appearances. This has lead to their first festival appearances in Europe and being invited to play on top of BT Tower to celebrate the Olympics.
Surrounding the music, Noise of Art collaborators Mark Scott Wood and Friends, Prick Image, Overlap and The People Pile will immerse the audience in specially created sci fi imagery, interactive performance, solar landscapes, lunar missions, UFO landings and extraordinary creatures.
Meanwhile Noise of Art founder and DJ Ben Osborne will be joining the dots.
Colour of Sound at Tate and Archive Space Sci Fi

Noise of Art’s Ben Osborne and Your Mum will be appearing at Tate Britain next Friday evening (1 July) from 6pm until 10pm in gallery Nine.
Reflecting the Tate’s exploration of contemporary water colour, the event will see DJ and VJs borrow phrases from water colour to create a diverse, groove laden set.

On 10 June Noise of Art will be launching key parts of its London 2011 activity, including Metissage, a pan European celebration of street art and cultural diversity, which will take place in London, Rome and Paris.
The night will focus on collaborations between electronics and vocalists, accompanied by contemporary dancers, visual artists and projectionists. It will also see the announcement of further Noise of Art events for 2011.
Techno pioneer and Mute Records artist Tim Wright presents the London debut his new disco-tech project, Viewer, featuring vocalist AB Johnson. This is a rare appearance from Wright, who has been releasing his inimitable brand of electronic music since the early 1990s. Using his own name and pseudonyms such as as Tube Jerk, Germ and Pin he’s released internationally influential records on such revered labels as Mute, Tresor, Soul Jazz and PIAS, amongst others. His remix work includes artists such as Laurent Garnier and Goldfrapp.
Dec Shoes is a vinyl versus vocal, neo house project. Although a new act, they have already been invited to play at the top of the BT Tower as part of the run up to the Olympics, have just returned from playing Spot festival in Denmark and will appear at Latitude and several other festivals later this summer.
Ursa Minor are Little Bear, Yoshee, Katie P and Evee. They bring you music influenced by the golden age of house music – Dancing, Beats, Bass, Songs, Love, Life, The Universe and everything. Think Fingers Inc, Ten City, Inner City and Billy Ray Martin.
All the acts will be playing from the DJ booth and, around the electronics, there’ll be a troupe of contemporary dancers, stunning visuals from Noise of Art’s regular team of artists and DJ sets from Ben Osborne and Rupert The Brewer.
Noise of Art at Spot Festival Denmark next weekend

Noise of Art are playing at Spot, one of Scandinavia’s finest festivals, on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 May.
The project will see a musical collaboration between Noise of Art’s Ben Osborne and Dec Shoes, with Faroe Isle band Orka, along with peformances from The People Pile.

Slipped Disco returns to Big Chill House on Friday 22 April for a bank holiday special. Spinning back into BCH for a cosmic fuelled deep house session, boy-girl vinyl and vocals duo Dec Shoes will be taking to the floor, Rupert the Brewer will be bringing proceedings to the boil, and bubbling under Singaporean deep house producer Portfolio will be making his UK debut. Meanwhile resident DJ Ben Osborne will be spinning tracks from the soon to be released ‘Wolf Girl’ remix package (out in May featuring remixes from Ben Osborne, Idiotech and Gary Numan).
